I've been a regular lucid dreamer for the past 2 years or so. It's getting to the point where I kind of wish they would stop. I get in these dream cycles where I dream about the same things over the course of several days and in the end I have a really hard time seperating my dream world from the waking world. The dreams are so real and I have so much control over them that they work their way into my daily reality. I'm always having to remind myself that certain "events didn't really happen."
Overall I'd say lucid dreaming is a lot of fun, especially once you learn some of the little tricks (like if you want to change scenes just turn around), and it is a good way to explore and experience things you otherwise wouldn't be able to.
Sleeping (from exhaustion) while still feeling the effects of LSD I think is one of the things that led to my becoming a lucid dreamer. But that is just a hunch. If I smoke marijuana before going to bed I do not have lucid dreams.
