~I know that in some states, such as Arizona, if a person breaks in your house and you FEEL threatened you can shoot them. Any decent lawyer will be able to convince a jury that you felt like your life is endangered. I have spoken with several lawyers about this and they all told me that if I did kill someone who broke into my home, given you did not shoot them 8 times and reload, you would spend no jail time.
~Another point is that there is no information given about what happened and why. I would bet that it involved drugs, guns, and a deal gone wrong. Not many judges like these things.}
~The two options suck, but in the military you get paid and there are many loop holes.
~P.S. it does not matter where you shoot them, it is still attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
