I can't recommend anything for chronic pain, other than perhaps some opium tea, but that'll make you groggier than the cannabis...

But for Sweetness, as far as muscle soreness after a work out, a can of albacore tuna in water is the best. After a heavy workout, especially quads, eat a can of albacore tuna (line caught albacore, not 'tuna' tuna - higher in protein and less fat). A muscle relaxer might numb the pain but it won't help regrow muscle tissue, which is what you feel after a workout - micro tears in muscle that are slowly being repaired. High quality protein, esp. albacore tuna, will rapidly speed up that process, also drinking lots of fresh water, as the ATP process is water fuelled.

A steak is good too, but much more expensive, more fat, and lower quality protein. Albacore has the highest quality protein for lowest price, hands down.
