Son of O'or LEVEL +10 - IN GOOD STANDING
"Too many "shaman" types seem to have this God-complex potential, and it seemed to sweat out of the pores of this guys story."

Traditional Shamans are almost always like this. Everywhere in the world. Your observations are correct. Remember this "story" has to do with traditional shamanism, and not the commercial "fluff bunny" new age/pagan type of shamanism.

In order to heal someone, or to be the village shaman for that matter, one needs to exude this sort of ego and power. One finds this sort of personality in GOOD western doctors also. I am very close to a neurologist who is much like this. A true madman, insane. A strong spirit and a strong personality. He has cured people of things others have given up hope on. People seek him from all over the world.

What is wrong with "ego"? A wild beast properly trained can do great things, many times greater than the man who trains it.
