I think he's growing G 13 and a lavender mix....
It is true cannabis has grown in that area for thousands of years
However they are acclamated to the equator.
G 13 and lavender are mainly indica which is what the pics look like to me.
My opinoun is those strains I.E. mostly indica are best suited for 30 deg. north or south of the equator
He would do best with a thai , mexican , haze strain
