| These prints did come from this springs fruiting. The patches were located in southeastern Ohio.
I know of a couple people who have taken myc from these natural patches and moved it to mulch patches around the house. The rhizos in the patch I found were so strong it looked and felt like you were tearing roots out of the ground.
I am of the opinion that this species does not need a cold shock to promote fruiting. There is a period when they first appear in the spring during the Morel season and a little past. Then they go "dormant" for the summer and stop fruiting. When the fall rains come again they begin fruiting for another month or so.
