Some people don't even spray down the side, just on top...which causes colonization to go from top down...and take forever.
Tipping the grain and shooting down the center of it, allows the spores to be distributed more evenly when you shake the hell out of it.
Shooting the spores down the side of the glass, much like brf jars, will sink to the bottom and start colonizing there. Even shaking WBS after inoculating like that, most of the solution will remain at the bottom.
PS...with WBS your needle doesn't need to touch the WBS, 2/3 full is about right. One of my jars in that pic are over filled.
