The composter is essentially a tub in tub type setup...Using two 5 gallon metal buckets and a 25W light bulb for heat...
I use a kitchen garbage bag for holding the compost so everything stays clean.. The temp probe is attatched to a piece of plastic coat hanger so it
can be jammed into the mix.....
I'm also using this for slow pasteurizing ...I placed some triched out substrate in a ziplock and jammed it into the compost for a day and it was completely killed..
I did the same thing in a pot of 170F water for two hrs and it survived ..so there's something to be said for low temp/long duration pasturization...
Using a 25W bulb produces a 125-130F temp in the compost..
A 40W bulb increases to 160-170F... The bulb is in a Qt jar to protect it..
