robots are part of the problem,
globalization plays a role too
when i was a teen
we joked about becoming gas station attendants,
pumping gas for a living was about all a high school drop-out could expect
but today even that job is gone,
almost all pumps are self-serve automated.
manufacturing and automobile assembly lines are going the same way,
and a robot won't ever demand a vacation or a sick day,
won't go on strike.
so people better learn to start their own business,
the only job security is when you are self-employed.
Yes, but someone still has to build and program the robots! Technology displaces lower value added jobs for higher value added jobs. I agree though that starting your own business is an option, but most start ups fail and this is still no guarantee.
