well kinda, you want it the let enough of the liquid drop to the plate without dropping plant material.

you could also use panty hose, which actually works really well.

you can have a small amount of plant material on the plate with the hash.
diffrent strains have diffrent resin, sometimes a little plant material helps it burn a little better.
i always end up with a few hairs or maybe a bud or two on the plate, i just used tweesers to snatch it off before it drys.
