a couple things i've learned...

-I believe that if you are going to birth the cakes that the colonization should be done in the dark for most of the time. The myc. seems to make a tighter cake that lasts longer for more flushes.

-Humidity is overated. Currently I do not use perlite or any humidifiers. And I mist about once a day. However great results have come from misting down the aquarium, putting the cakes in and simply leaving the lid on for about 5 days straight with no misting. Yes, the mycelium does need a high humidity to produce, but I believe that all the humidifiers and fish tank warmers, and even perlite doesn't make a large difference in the yield. So if you wanna save some money all you need is your pf tek and an aquarium.

-The greatest tip i've ever learned is to dunk your cakes. birth em, dunk em, grow em, and dunk em again. That is the best tip towards getting larger fruits.

-No heaters are needed either, while growing the mycelium will produce enough heat so that room temperature often becomes ideal growing conditions.

These are just a few from my own experience, not necessarily factual and everone's situation is different. But you can keep it simple and produce excellent results. Experiment, don't rely on what works for everyone else. And who knows you might find a better way to grow.
