How is it, that you were able to do that? Especially after everyting that went on?

everyone makes mistakes.
i excell at them.
i suppose my willingness to extend compassion
to even those with whom i've had differences
stems from my belief in
second chances.
lord knows there have been many times
when all i needed
was just one more chance
to get it right.
i guess i figure
as a guy who has needed a lot of 'slack',
i should be willing to
give the very thing
i ask so much for.

nan himself could come back
if he was willing to
let bygones be bygones.

my irish temper is quick to flare
but also quick to subside.
i only hold a grudge
if i was deeply wounded,
busted, ripped-off, etc.
and even then
time steals away much of that anger.
but you never did me
any serious damage,
just words.

i guess what i'm trying to say
is
it's been a very long time
since you 'wronged' me in any way
or i, you.
so why not make a new start ?
we used to be friends,
we must have liked
some things about each other.
so let us pick up
where we left off
before all that unpleasantness.

i have enough enemies
but i sure do need
a few more good friends.
