If you do try it indoors, be sure not to bring in other plants from outside. There is a risk of an aphid attack on your poppy. It can be handled by soapy water but that is after you notice the infestation. By then it may be too late. As far as if its worth it or not, most people say no. Some say yes. It all depends on how badly you want it. If you want it that badly, then its probably not worth it for health's sake. They like long days (16+ hours) and enjoy a flower oriented fertilizer.
If nothing else, there is a certain pleasure in just knowing you can do it.
