It is worth mentioning that, contrary to popular belief, distilled water is acidic (due to ambient CO
2 reacting with the water). The last time I tested distilled water (from a store bought gallon) it had a pH of ~5.5. This varies, but unless you are taking it straight from the distillation apparatus the water will not have a neutral pH (7).
