I'm kidding, but what I think might be cheaper (here's to hoping they'll pass the savings on to us!) would be to install those vacuum tube things we use at the bank drive through- no fancy computer tech to buy, install, then watch break and no quirky bill readers that don't read some of our bills forcing a walk inside anyway... The cashier would not be doing anything any different, just sending the change back through the tube. It'd be safer for the cashier too, especially at night.
