Wood lovers in Florida

I was wondering if anyone has experience with wood lovers in outdoor beds in a subtropical setting like South Florida? Obviously, P. azurescens and P. cyanascens are out since they need a significant temp drop to fruit. I'm thinking P. subareuginosa, P. subaeruginascens, or cyanofriscosa may be good candidates. Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated. Before anyone points out the obvious, I know cubes and pans are probably the best option for outdoor beds here, but there is soooooo much mulch everywhere. Hell, half our yard is mulch under bushes with a sprinkler. Seems to be a waste of good wood.
