I'm from the MA,RI,CT area. I want to do a good job by hippie3 standards. I'm thinking about eating some gyms when I can find them. These might be it?

Cap

1.1. Size – usually measured in centimeters. Measure the width and thickness, also the height if greater than the width.

About 1 1/4"

1.2. Shape


1.2.2.1. Umbonate – having a rounded bump (an umbo) above where the stem attaches to the cap.
1.3. Texture

Very crubmbly, stem hairy

1.3.1. Touch – describe the feel of the mushroom to your fingertip.

Moist

1.3.2. Visual

Fibrous or Fibrillose

1.4. Color

grayish tan cap with Light gray to lavander stem

1.5. Context

Thin, very much so , fragile and seems to turn light purple where bruised, smells like woodsy dirt, tastes exactly like chewing on a pencil.

2. Gills or Tubes or Teeth (Spore bearing surface)

Gills attached to stem, 3/16", do not run down stem, spacing -sub distant? Some gills do not go all the way from cap edge to stem. gills are about 1/4" in breadth. The color of gills are rusty brown.


3. Stalk (Stipe) – note if the stalk is absent.

Central, about 3/8" diameter at connection to cap and tapers down to less than 1/4" at base. Oveall lengths 2". I was carefull not to leave any stem in the ground when I pulled them. Stems are kind of bent, and fibrous. Have a hint of a vail ring 1/2 way down stem. Stem is solid, and a cool color purple. It is fragile when squeezed, but grainy.




5. Spores and Spore Print

Color – very light purple

Size – wish I had a microscope!

6. Habit

On rotten wood, underground, near hardwood trees. a couple together the other four within a 5' radius, but I wouldn't say a fairy ring.
