I always use creek water from a running stream, not a sitting water body. I found two advantages by doing this:

1. There's no chlorine and additives in the water
2. There's a bunch of organic matter in the water that add nutes to the grow

I used to use tap water with limited results, and soon as I switched to creek water I've had significant improvements.
