since The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: buy I'm forced to start this thread.

Where can I buy Agar in local shops?

I also heard cornflour can be used to, or even cardboard, but I'm looking for something that can be stored.

Agar is availiable at healthfood stores (most expensive), lab supply stores/ sites (less expensive), and asian food markets (least expensive).

It can be found as powder, flakes and sheets. If you get sheets or flakes, be sure to gind them into powder for use in petris.

Being a little more specific: Look near the seaweed, agar is a seaweed product, & if the place you are shopping in is like the place I go to, that's where they will keep it. A common brand is Telephone Brand.

Any asian market ask for agar agar

i'd buy it on the internet if you can. you'll have more options and can probably find it at a better price

It's used as vegetarian jello. Some health food places have it in bulk. Sometimes people "accidentally" confuse it witht the white flour code and get ounds of it for dirt cheap.
