![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | contam on my agar?
wondering if i have a contam on my plate here. it started off as a little white puff along the edge so i thought it was just some stray myc. today i looked at it and it was a lot bigger with a greyish knot in the center. something just doesn't look right to me. any help is much appreciated..

is the grayish not exactly the center of that growth? because it seems to have some good myc growing there.. the middle part looks like its contaminated with wet spot bacteria you can try and isolate that myc growth in a new clean dish or a dish with h202 agar to clean it up edit:lazlo's quick im w him

If you have the patience, chase it. Meaning snag a tiny bit and put it in a new plate, grow it out and keep doing this till you have a clean plate. This is how agar work is done. I'd let it grow some more and snag a rhizo when it starts. You'll be learning a valuable skill that is needed when working with dirty wild prints. Never toss anything, it sooo easy to chase.

thanks for the help guys i'm gonna make some new plates up today and see what i can save. this one was from a clone that i had taken. i think i'll run a multispore along side of the new one i make and see the difference. on a side note the clones i dropped in grain are looking very promising . thanks again

You'll have to shave a small amount of growth from the edge furthest away from the mold. If you delay, the mold can start feeding and spreading on the mushroom mycelium and will be a nightmare to transfer away from.

To me it looks like a peice of tissue that is on the edge of the plate. It also looks like that is the only place on the place that has useable mycelium. Id transfer from that corner growth if that is a peice of tissue. The middle has too much bacteria.
