![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Good Survival books?
I have Poor Mans James Bond by Kurt Saxon and some Army cold weather survival, animal trapping manuals/booklets from a nephew. The Poor Mans James Bond seems like it is the book to have in a survival situation. Wondering if anyone knows any more good reads on survival?

the PMJB was crap when it was written- now it's out-dated crap. might start with the boy scout manual, then encyclopedia of country living then there are literally hundreds to browse, scan the net for forums like this one for free up-to-date info on everything.

i cant dis the poor mans james bond , there are a few howto's in them books that i have tried an had a blast playing with , like vehicle smoke screens you run a metal tube to your vehicles exhaust right past your catalytic converter , then you get a windsheild fluid reservoir that has a pump built in , an connect that to the other end of your tube running down to your exhaust .. connect the windshield pump wires to a spare switch running into the cab of the vehicle , fill the windsheild fluid reservoir with castor oil then when you wanna make a serious smoke screen an fog everyone around your car out ,, just flip teh switch , it inturns pumps castor oil into the hot exhuast an tons of smoke starts rolling out the backend ![]() i had a vw bug in highschool i did this too , was fun id piss everyone off with it , lol my understanding is military tanks an such do the same thing but they pump in diesal fuel .. dont qoute me on that ! |

The Tom Brown books are pretty good, especially if you need some inspiration to get into the outdoors. For a northern climate i like Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski. Any edible plant guides of your area should be helpful.

There are a ton of books that will get the wheels turnin' , and lots of great ideas to apply ...if need be. If you want a great little book that really can come in handy , check out this book SAS Survival Guide by John 'Lofty' Wiseman google it and you can scope it out. It's about the size of a pack of smokes, and still readable. It can easily be fit into a BOB (bug out bag). There are some very practical survival MUSTS at your finger tips right there with you , in your bag. anyway....I'd sugest this little handy and practical book. Preparedness culture has carved a larger niche in todays internet society. Its a great idea . Maybe you can step up the prep ...... it's pretty easy and not too costly if you follow a few steps. I started asking myself... What do you do to prepare this week ? Even if it's just simply preparing for hard times and such , the things you'll learn in the process are absolutely and incredibly enriching. These types of SKILLS can carry you far in any conditions. Peace, LSD
