    5-HTP (Griffonia simplicifolia)

Curious if anyone here has tried this stuff - it's a legal OTC supplement available at most nature stores, GNC, etc.

I've heard that it can reduce the "hangover" one experiences after taking Kratom; I'm wondering if it'll reduce my urge to daisy chain kratom doses for weeks / months / years on end...

The Kratom got me away from opiates quite well. So well, in fact, that if I don't take it about 4-5 times a day, I experience unpleasant withdrawl symptoms. Naturally, I'm not against taking a foreign substance for kicks but no one really knows what the long-term effects of Kratom intake / addiction are, and I'm not sure I want my name at the top of the case-study.

Maybe I can swap my kratom addiction for a 5-htp addiction? I feel like an entheogenic ping-pong ball, but I don't remember what it's like to be off the table completely (actually, I do remember - it was miserable). Clean living is overrated, but it's better than the threat of "assuming room temperature" prematurely, I suppose.

Kratom also kicks in wicked desire to smoke ciggys for me, so perhaps if I could trim back, I could quit smoking again (I had quit for 3 years, but I was also addicted to painkillers then too).

But I digress... curious to see if anyone had tried the 5-htp (it's similar to tryptophan, a precursor to seratonin, etc).

I've had friends use 5-HTP in conjunction with other vitamins and supplements as a coctail used for harm reduction that mdma can do to your body during extacy trips. They say it helps them not get the "E" hangover the next day and something about the reduction of the oxidation of seratonin in the brain that can be harmfull. Also supposed to help protect them against symptoms experienced by chronic users of extacy. But as for your purpose of use I am not sure.

Last night was my 2nd dose, starting out with 50mg before bed. Night 1 was AOK, last night I had awesome crazy flying dreams, then woke up at 1:30am feeling like I was going to jump out of my skin - most unpleasant. Not sure if it's because of the 5htp, or if it's my reduction in Kratom dosage, or perhaps leftover weirdness from Saturday (took 2 darvon that day to get over a wicked hangover)...

Who knows. Either I took something I shouldn't have, or I didn't take something I should have, or I took too much of something a few days before and paid for it later...

I'll get my shit straight one of these days

I've heard of using it for Ex hangover... I need to do some dosage research, I suppose

I take it every day with st john's wart to help Balance out my mood, but I have noticed a lot more vivid dreams and I have started trying it in combinations with mushrooms to see if my trips become more visual. The first time I tried it I had a really positive breakthrough on 100 mg of 5 htp and 5 grams of shrooms.

5-Htp increases Serotonin, it is found in Turkey and Cheese and other foodstuffs. Unlike deppression tablets which utilize the serotonin that is already in the body, 5-htp is directly turned into serotonin thereby increasing the stock of serotonin inside the bodie. It hasn't been tested properly in the lab so it hasn't been realeased to doctor's etc. However I think it could be cure for Schizophrenia, Paranoia and various other psychritric diseases as it resupplys the brain with one of its main messangers. Maybe thats why they haven't let it out because the drug companies don't all want to cure they wan't to releive so they can make more money. What do you all think??

I used to use to combat the dreaded "hate the world" feeling from cid and shrooms that happens in the following week. I found that taking it before dosing then once a day the following week really helped my mood.

    Solivericatum

    or

    Solivericosis

    or

    Solivericism
