![]() | Loph growing and care I obtained 3 2.5cm lophs last xmass but have a few questions that I could not find answers to in the grow guides online. First, can regular old lophs self polinate? I had one flower allready and it produced a few seeds that I scatered around the plant but none came up. Second, at what age and general size will my lophs start putting out pups naturaly? Would I have to graft to see a substantial number of pups? |

![]() | yes you can graft it. I recommend grafting to a tricocerus peruvianus or t. pachanoi. sorry i've got no pics. my little girl is not with me at the moment. i'm not in a great growing area so i left her with a friend in another state. good luck

![]() | A book like this may help. May want to see if you can obtain a copy from an online seller or a used bookstore

![]() | Your flowers will eventually put out good seeds.. They can self polinate.. As for pups it can take forever.. Some do it spontaniously(caespitosa). Most take age to offset unless grafted.. The pics are a few examples.. The one with the pups is a young caespitosa.. The other one looks like williamsii, could be fricii no pups and its very old.. |

![]() | only L. williamsii is self-fertile. L. diffusa, koehresii and fricii are not. i find that diffusa, fricii, jourdiana, and to a lesser extent koehressii all pup a lot (relatively). williamsii, from what i have seen, dont usually pup until they are quite large (10cm+). but some do pup earlier. i have one that was only 2 cm and started to pup. now at 5 cm it has 2 pups and is growing in a crest type style, but not a crest. all you can do is wait and see...or graft it.....grafting generally makes things pup. |
