    my collection

    hey all,
    i just started collecting.
    i have 8 pachanois and one bridgesii.
    hopefully they are comfy in their new home and will send out some roots. =]

    i mixed these dry: 4 parts pea gravel, 2 parts 'compost', 2 parts potting soil [has peat in it, bleh], 1 part perlite, and maybe 5 heaping handfuls of dolomitic lime per couple gallons of soil mix.
    i buried them maybe 3 areoles deep.

    i have not watered them at all yet for fear of them rotting, but now i see that i probably should moisten up the soil a little to promote rooting, right?

    without further ado, the cactus wagon:

    ribbed 8x, for her pleasure..

    there's a bit of damage here on this bridgesii, hopefully it doesn't spread.

    i figure these spots are just from spine pokeage. nothing serious, ja?

    peace =]

    Its the warmth, not the moisture that promotes rooting. You could dampen the soil without much risk, as long as you let it completely dry out each time.

    When you see bright green on the tips, you have roots, and the bright green is the new growth.

    Nice

    How big are they? They look like they're over a foot but I can't tell for sure.
