Fresh Poppy Question...

I just harvested some fresh ripe poppy pods and I was still wondering if I could still score some of them even though it has been a day since they were cut?

Well I just scored one and it seemed to let out some white latex but not much, i should probably just let them dry out and go with some sort of tea....any suggestions on a good drying procedure?

Yes, spread them out well and put them under a fan. Takes a couple days or longer with larger pods. Turn them over each day. If it is humid where you live it may take longer.

should I go ahead and cut the stems from the pods or does it really matter if they are on when drying?

That doesn't matter...

How many pods do you have ?

In my experience the stems made them easier to handle because I could tie them into bundles. The stems also contain the same alkaloids as the pods just not in as high a concentration.

I dry with the stems attached although as Space said, it doesnt matter.
