    cactus question

    enclosed are pictures of a cactus i picked up at walmart. i believe it to be a san pedro but am unsure. can someone offer insight?
    btw: the damage had already been done to the stalk when bought.

    It is a Myrtillocactus geometrizans. Probably the most commonly confused cactus for a trichocereus. Notice the black spines and flat ribs. It is non active but makes a nice grafting stock. Still cool to have in a collection.

    I have read where some people find trichos at department stores or home supply stores. I never have. If you cant afford a nice clone, buy some seeds. In a couple years you will have cactus coming out your ears.

    i raised this one, and it was active. but when i tried to regrow after consumption it died.

    How did you cut it for harvest. I have had them snap off nearly at the dirtline and still produce pups the next spring?
