A simple 1/2 lb MHRB TEK

I've ripped a lot of this off from other teks, but this is simple:
1) Equipment needed-
1 gallon plastic jug (the kind white vinegar comes in)
plastic or glass funnel
pyrex baking dish
1/2 lb MHRB
1/2 lb NaOH
3/4 gallon water(tap works fine)
1quart VM&P NAPHTHA


2) The process:
a) Place the funnel into the clean, dry jug
b) Add the NaOH
c) Carefully fill the jug up to 3/4 full with water
d) cap the jug and invert to dissolve the NaOH, venting the cap after
each inversion.
e) Set the jug into a pot of cold water to dissipate the heat generated by the reaction of the NaOH and water.
f)Put the funnel back into the jug and add 1/2lb MHRB powder.
g) cap the jug and invert to mix thoroughly.
H) funnel back into jug, add apint of NAPHTHA, cap thje jug and invert slowly several times.
i) Let the jug sit for an hour, invert several more times.
j) repeat step i one or two more times, finally allow NAPHTHA to separate from the basified sludge.
K) Set the jug inside the pyrex dish. Using a sharp implement, poke a hole in the jug just above the NAPHTHA/sludge interface, and allow the NAPHTHA to drain out slowly into the dish. When done draining, dry the outside of the jug and place a piece of electrical tape over the hole you poked in the jug.
l) put your baking dish in front of a fan and evaporate the NAPHTHA, you will have quite a bit of pretty DMT crystals in the dish when done.
m) Fill that jug with another pint of NAPHTHA and repeat steps i-l.
n) wash those crystals with ice cold water if necessary(I have never needed to do this)
o) I have been getting about five grams from 1/2 lb MHRB.
*I warm my NAPHTHA by placing the can of NAPHTHA uner a stream of hot water in the sink for five minutes, I think recovery is higher with warm NAPHTHA.

I like this recipe because it eliminates the need for a separatory funnel, no acidification necessary, and I end up with a pretty clean product in the end.

Nice tek, well I dont know anyone who has tried it, but it sounds easy and efficent. I was wondering about how long this whole process takes once all products are together? Also thanks for the good tek.

Yo one thing that could be DANGEROUS is that they always teach you to add NaOH to water, never the other way around. Lye going into solution releases heat that can boil the water, splashing caustic liquid all over the place. Play safe!

Also...

To avoid losing product on the side of the jug, you could
squeeze a wet cloth over the jug after you let the naphtha
drain out. The water will evaporate and you wont lose any
crystals by wiping them away with the naphtha before they've
actually formed.

One question...How safe is it to use plastic for a tek like this?
I have always been told to stay away from anything but glass
due to the possible reactions with the chemicals in the
plastic/foil/aluminium or whatever else.

i never mix any solvent with any plastic, maybe im being paranoid but i sure as shit dont want platic junk in anything i may consume. ive seen solvent tear some plastic up so i never mix the two, always stick to glass or stainless.

5 grams of DMT from 226 grams doesn't seem right. I've never heard of MHRB with more than 1% DMT, and the yield you state is over 2%. Not to say you are wrong, but it just doesn't seem right, also as stated mixing plastic with not only lye, but also naptha seems like a bad idea. Naptha alone can disolve plastic, and so can lye.

Also, no ammonia wash, no recrystallization. This tek is lacking some essential steps. The naptha after the initial process has hydroxides in it and should be washed with ammonia, or recrystallized. Other problem I have with this tek is that it doesn't have any time frame, nor any type of measurement for the amount of lye. I would suggest going here for DMT extraction teks

That isn't always the case though...with a straight to base tek you can often
skip those steps, depending on how clean the product comes out, also, how
clean you prefer the product to be.

My foaf scrapes, and dissolves into warm naphtha, places it all the freezer
for a while, then evaps again...when it gets very low, you can easily separate
the nasties from the crystals before they dry to them. Swish the dish around
a little and wipe up the nasties, be careful not to get much liquid though,
or you will lose some product.
