The ELF tek

i know there are a plethora of DMT teks out there, but some of them are filled with misinformation and unnecessary steps, so i have decided to post a tek that my squirrel has done previously, i think he might even be doing it again tomorrow on 3kg acacia obtusifolia.


My squirrel used 1kg of obtusifolia bark in this tek, however it is scalable


Tools and glassware:
-pyrex saucepan or crockpot
-PH meter(or litmus paper)
-2 mason jars and 1 empty liquer bottle or 1 mason jar and 2 empty liquer bottles(the 1l tequila/vodka/generic clear glass bottle with screw on cap work best)
-funnel(make sure 1/4" ID tubing fits onto this tightly)
-1/4" ID(3/8" OD) clear tubing. 1/2m should be sufficient
-THICK gloves(dont use surgical gloves)
-old pillow
-pack of coffee filters
-evaporation dish of choice(squirrel notes that pyrex pie dishes work well)

Chemicals:
-Hydrocloric acid, aka muriatic acid
-sodium hydroxide, aka caustic soda(note: get the one that has at least 98% sodium hydroxide, should be filled with white granules)
-Shellite
-Distilled water(henceforth referred to as Dh2o)

1. obtain the material, and get it suitable for extraction.

if using bark, pound it up until its nice and small, if you can, put it all in a blender and get it to as large a surface area as possible(my squirrel prefers to have it almost powdery)

if using leaves, shred them(either by hand or blender etc) then put into a pyrex bowl. pour 1/2 amount acetone(i.e. if using 1kg of leaves, use 500ml acetone) and soak overnight, in the morning, pour off acetone and wring leaves so as to leave as little acetone behind.
evaporate acetone(my squirrel usually just leaves it in the sun for a day or so) and collect the resulting green gunky stuff.

NOTE: a mix of bark and leaves can be used.

2. extracting alkaloids from material.

Place the plant material into the saucepan/crockpot, add 0.8x Dh2o(i.e. if using 1kg of plant material, add 800ml Dh2o)
This will henceforth be referred to as the "aqueous solution"

fill a mason jar/generic glass bottle with 100ml Dh2o
add hydrocloric acid until PH reaches 2.
add a few drops(about 10 ml) of this mixture to the aqueous solution, then stir in using a non-metallic non-plastic stirring implement(wooden spoon or glass stirring rod works fine) measure PH after every 50ml until PH reaches 3. this may require you to make another batch of Dh2o/acid.

once PH of aqueous solution reaches 3, heat solution to a simmer for 30 minutes to 2 hours or until about half of the solution has been boiled off.
pour aqueous mixture into a glass bottle. Try to leave as much plant material in the saucepan as possible
cut open pillow, and stuff a good amount of the cotton into the neck of the bottle.
pour aqueous solution into the mason jar. plant material should be filtered out into the cotton.

put plant material from cotton back into saucepan/crockpot, and redo the "cooking" 2 more times. Wash the cotton with 500ml Dh2o in order to get all the particulate matter back into the saucepan, then only add an additional 300ml Dh2o(to equal the 800ml originally used)

You should have 1.2l aqueous solution. if you want you can boil this down more, my squirrel did, and he ended up with 800ml aqueous solution before continuing.

3. Basifying solution

measure 100ml Dh2o into the unfilled glass container, add small amounts(half a teaspoon at a time) of sodium hydroxide and stir in, test with PH meter or litmus paper until PH reaches 13.
as with the hydrocloric acid solution, pour small amounts of this solution in, then stir, until PH of aqueous solution reaches 12.


4. Extracting with non polar solvent(naptha wash)

Pour 100ml shellite into the aqueous mixture. secure lid onto the glass container, then tip end over end for about 10-15 minutes. then partially remove lid and allow to sit until it forms 2 clearly defined layers.

The next part usually requires some sort of help, using a retort stand and clamp works well enough, but my squirrel usually gets a chipmunk to help

fix the tubing to the end of the funnel so that it forms a tight seal(no seals were hurt during the making of this tek). then get your helper to hold the funnel about 60cm(2 feet) from the ground, make sure the helper holds onto the tubing in order to make sure it does not slip off the funnel.
put the other end of the tubing into one of the bottles(note, you should wash bottle out before doing this)
clamp down on the tubing about 2/3 of the way from the funnel to the bottle using the pliers.
pour small amounts of aqueous solution into the funnel at a time(if you just pour it all in at once it will spit all over the place... my squirrel got drenched the first time he tried this) until the solution reaches about 1/2 way up the funnel. wait for a few seconds whilst the layers re-form

release a small amount of pressure on the pliers, in order to start letting the aqueous solution pour into the bottle.
once the solution level gets near the interface(the separating layers) add more of the solution in from the mason jar.
keep doing this until you only have naptha left in the tubing/funnel, then take the tubing out of the bottle and aim it at the evaporation dish, let all of the shellite pour into the evaporation dish.

repeat the non-polar solvent wash 2 times.

you should now be left with 300ml of shellite in an evaporation dish.
Choose your favorite method of crystalization(when im lazy i just train a hair-dryer on it for a couple of minutes) and then enjoy your product.

Notes: There is no de-fatting process in this tek. The crystals recovered will be a slightly yellow colour.
This is fine, because if one is to do a de-fatting wash, one will invariably lose some product, my squirrel would much rather a small amount of fat in there, then 20% less DMT(note, my squirrel just pulled the "20%" statistic out of his chipmunks ass)

After a squirrelly consultation, it seems that the acetone step is to burst the cells in the leaves. alternatively, you could just freeze them, then thaw them out quickly, then freeze again.

got the lat/long from the AVH herbarium, then a day trip down to sydney to strip the bark.
