    The Elixir

Has anyone read this book? It seems as if its out of print as online i have only found it used. in fact i found it at a used book store but it appears as if its never even been read. I read the introduction which has already taught me things about ergot I never knew... But it seems it covers the possiblities of ergot as soma. It has a rather large chapter devoted to the bible, which in some way must relate... I wish i could post a review having read this already, and it seems as if the author has a smooth enough style to get threw it quickly, but i'm in them middle of a large book and have 2 or three more pressing before this so it'll have to wait... Just wanted to see if anyone here has read it.

dammit. i spelt the friggen title wrong. the one part i cant edit. d'oh

Yes, I have the book, I've read it, cause I used to be into ergot, LSA, things like that. My morning glory plants didn't make shit for seeds, hardly any at all...I'll keep checking though.

Been into mescaline lately though, would like to check out caapi + MG cold water extract soon, heard plenty of good things about that combo.

Read anything you can by Carl Ruck & Peter Webster.

Other books on ergot: ergotwine described in the book "Lysergic" by KA Cole, Psychedelics Encyclopedia by Ratsch, a really good book is "Mushrooms of the goddess" by Carl AP Ruck, there is an interesting chapter or two on ergot, then morning glory experiments. There is an interesting thread on ergot here:

Claviceps purpurea, The begining of Autumn and the Goddess Visits the grain. - Edot forums

The search engine will bring up some interesting stuff too.

I can point you to another rare & expensive book on ergot, send me a pm, on-line copy of "ergot, the genus claviceps" if you're interested.

oh yes. i've scoured the internet and read threw tons of the available pages already. its been awhile so a definte refresher is in store so thanks for listing it all here for my simple finds... i was just seeing if others had read this book and if its full of valuable information? or if i just wasted money on a book that contains nothing but info thats already included in the rest of my library (btw ratsch's encyclopedia is the best reference for entheogens if you ask me.) or just to see if it brought up any good conversation here.

Awesome! I think the book Elixir is thoroughly researched, if anything it made me appreciate the countless references to ergot throughout history, tons of biblical references as well...really gets you thinking. It is way different than any of the other books in my collection. Antipodes of the Mind by Benny Shanon has got to be one of my all time favorites, Ayahuasca journey reports galore....if only we had such a reference for ergot.

I think people are too afraid of the possibility of ergot poisoning for them to persue it. I have never seen ergot in person, but if i had i would have taken it home and contemplated for a very long time a CWE. I've read from enough reliable sources that this is safe, but at the same time, you see those risks... i dont think know of anyone that would say yes if the 'elixir' was right in front of them.
