Herbs, plants, or supplements for natural treatment of high blood pressure?

My dr. says I might have high blood pressure. They wanted to medicate me immediately. I asked them if they were actually going to test me for it and they said no they wouldn't(medicaid). I refused the medicine. I'll accept no treatments without a proper diagnosis. But I'm getting headaches lasting me a couple days and it's not stress or allergy related. It's not your normal headache. Not that it's severe but it feels different.I have no history of migraines or cluster headaches or chest pain. I have great eyesight so that's not it either. I was curious if there were any herbs, botanical extracts, etc. that can be used to treat high blood pressure. Any of the botanical site sponsors here please feel free to chime in. All your info is appreciated. I do not plan on medicating myself but want to be prepared to have options of treatment before I get a proper diagnosis. I don't like pills and would rather have something else than having strange or dangerous side effects from them. I want to go well informed.

If your asking me no.I just realy love learning about edible
mushrooms. The hole thing gives me chills up my spine if you know
what I meen.Nothing more amazing then oyster myc racing across
a jar of grain and producing the beautyfull fruits after expation.
I wish I would of fell into this when I was much younger. The
pasion is increadible and a much better high then any drug.
Just another compliant drunk.Who loves edible mushrooms.
I do get migranes but Excedrine migrane is the only thing that
will touch them.Oh a few shots of some good wiky helps to
kick them in.But realy bad for your liver so don't do what I do.

usually the best thing you can do is make behavioral changes.here are some common causes 1 medication,NSAIAS(advil etc)lithium decongestants etc.have you started any new medication?if so did you ask your pharmacist of any possible interaction with something you are already taking?2 new allergy can up your pressure.3 new exposure to heavy metals lead mercury etc.4 new cause for stress in your life?5 you could have a thyroid problem ,kidney etc.
the most important thing you can do is actually know what your blood pressure is?big chain super markets have free do it yourself meters in the pharmacy.even fire departments have units,or go buy a tester.you want a reading of 140 over 90 or lower.
usually the first course of action is to start you on a diuretic usually thiazide.this is to lower your sodium.so if sodium is the major problem guess what you have to kick first salt.if your doing crank, lots of coffee say bye.if your setting on your ass all day playing computer or tv like iam go take a little walk it is spring enjoy it .a little exercise is big medicine.

Actually I've been in perfect health besides the hernia operation last year on Valentines day. It's the only operation I've ever had. Don't get sick much, not taking any perscriptions for anything. Only a couple minor fractured bones ever.No previous conditions. I do plan on getting a real diagnosis as soon as money permits. Medicaid only does so much.

I know about the sponsors selection of edibles. Sporeworks has great ones.I also know some good people here that'd gladly send me a culture soon as he weather warms a bit here. Anyone know an old chinese alchemist or apothecary? A shaman maybe?Maybe someone of that nature might have some good info. Thanks for your thoughts. Keep them coming.

Peace

as for natural botanicals start with a diuretic celery seed, dandelion root etc.keep taking that blood pressure to see if it is working.they dont call it the silent killer for nothing.just because you feel better keep a check on it.shitake has a great record but it is more long term fix.iam sorry to be so long winded on this but i have lost some good ones to it.iam just looking out for you.boy you never come back from a stroke.keep checking those numbers.if none of this helps you or what anybody else tells you works ,go to the Dr. you can alway take the natural path once you have it under control.just remember where all this advice is coming from.you might as well ask a witch doctor.

Well the salt thing is for sure a no,no as others said.
My father had a inlarged heart and died from heart failure so
as others said don't fool around and seek professonal help.
If you don't like one doctor go to a few others. My father was
as stubborn as a mule and would not take his meds.He died
shortly after he turned 60 which is pretty young these days.
I can tell you he also was not supposed to eat red meat and
lived many years till he gave up.The man loved his food what
can I say. It's a rough life to do with out the foods you love.

there are an assortment of underlying causes for hypertension-
without knowing what is causing yours
it's impossible to prescribe a course of treatment.

I recommend Salvia M. for high blood pressure. There are hundreds of studies which show its beneficial effects on the heart and blood pressure. This may be non-conventional, however in theory, anything that has vasodialation properties would be beneficial as well i.e. gingko biloba extract.

Other VERY good herbs to consider:
Celery extract has been used for hundreds of years in traditional Chinese Medicine to lower blood pressure. It has been proven that eating as little as 4-5 stalks per day can lower blood pressure considerably. I don't know the mechanism of action however.

Garlic extract- this not only lowers blood pressure, but it also rids the arteries of cholesterol which may be clogging them and causing the high blood pressure to begin with.

Hawthhorn, like gingko can dialate ateries. Be careful, as Hawthorn is a potent heart tonic... so much so that you would definitely need to talk to your doctor or naturopathic doctor before using it.

Kudzu extract- Pueraria lobata contains a chemical by the anme of puerarin which can decrease blood pressure up to 15% in as little as 4 weeks! This chemical has 100 times the antioxidant power of vitamin E, so its also good for nabbing those free radicals which cause heart disease.

Onion- The essential oil of onion in the dose of 2-3 tablespoons was shown to lower blood pressure in 2/3 of the people in the study. Systolic levels dropped an average of 25% in this study. While you will never find the essential oil of onion... Cook up some onions and garlic and add celery salt to the mix...

Those are some good herbs/extracts that come to mind. If you would like to talk about it, please email me KTBotanicals@aol.com and we can talk about a specific, potent, and personalized plan of attack on lowering your stress and blood pressure.

Sincerely,

Tyler
