Starting baby Poppies in with flowering MJ

I was wanting to get a head start with my poppies so I was wondering if it is alright to just start some from seed in my mj closet. The only reason I am asking is because I am about to put my MJ plants into flower (Changing the bulb and cutting light to 12/12). Will this affect the plants at all? I was thinking that the only way it would affect them would be a decreased growth rate as they wouldn't be getting as much light.

What is the best way to start poppies indoors? Should I plant them in groups in a number of pots? or separately?

While I am on the topic I was also wondering if changing the light like that would hurt any cacti that would be in the closet. This is probably more for next winter as I am going to get some cuttings to root when it gets warm. Although it would be nice to root them before then since it isn't going to be rooting temp for a couple more months.

I will post some pics of my closet when I get the time. Over time at work + 14 credits working on an Electrical Engineering BA is getting to me. I can't even find the time to trip anymore. Then when I do have the time I start having problems with my teeth. GRRRRRR!!!!

~Peace Out

If you intend on transplanting them, i recommend
just starting them outside. If you feel you must
start them inside, drop about 3-5 seeds per peat
cup. cover the peat cup with plastic wrap and
place close (within 2 inches) to a 6500k color lamp.
12 hour light cycle is fine for vegative growth but
useless for flowering in nearly all cases. When you
transplant, place the entire peat cup in the ground
without disturbing the plant/roots.
I am not a great expert on cacti yet but from what
I have experienced, the primary care of cacti is not
the light cycle but the light intensity and abundance.
I have cacti in 12 hour cycles and 18 hour light cycles
and i notice no difference at this point.
Oh and one more thing. Not to be daddy here but
the poppy could fuck your plans to be an EE. Be
mindful with it.
