    straight to base DMT question
    so i put all the chopped bark 500g in a bottle with water and 200g lye
    then i let it sit, then mixxed up the bark to break it up
    then i added in hexane
    then let it separate

    then pull
    then freeze precip
    then didnt see any crystals the next day

    what did i do wrong?

    Did you warm your hexane at all?

    The reason I always recommend that people use hexane for recrystallizations is that DMT isn't very soluble in it at room temperatures. You really have to get it fairly hot before it'll work well for a pull.

    Also, it may just mean your solution wasn't concentrated enough to freeze-precip, there's probably some spice in there. Evaporate it down to a much smaller volume, then try freeze-precipitating again.
