Good looking plant! I was under the impression altitude had a large influnce on a coffee tree producing fruit. I would like to grow one if it would produce fruits.

    Good luck!

They will fruit at lower altitude, they like to be misted.
I haven't been able to clone it, I'm not sure its possible.
The beans take 3 to 6 months to fully germinate, they make great house plants!

what kind of soil are you using?
Do you do anything special to it?

I have a bean, didn't know if i should plant it or not.
Maybe i should give it a whirl.

The soil i use is pro mix with a little extra perlite.
they like the soil moist but with good drainage.
Filtered light most of the day is best.

For sprouting beans, you want the freshest beans you can get.
Old beans are more likely not to sprout, or to rot when they do.
Soak them 12-24 hours and then plant them in a regular size pot.

I've gotta try growing some java here. It was rather easy in Guatemala because any bean, pod, seed or stick you sow in that volcanic earth grows crazy. This is a coffee plant in my backyard near San Marcos, Lake Atitlan at 5000 feet. Two coffee plants put out a hellatious amount of coffee cherries.
Keep in mind that only reeeeeally special neighbors appreciate the scent of the drying process. I covered a 10 x 10 tarp with beans and the smell was like death.
