    yellow spot on T.Peruvianus

    I have a concern and I need some feedback. I have a T. Peruvianus that has a yellow spot along 2 ribs and the whole damn length. I got it Thursday from a friend by mail. I have laid it down bec I wanna made a log out of it but any ideas on whats causing the yellow spot and will it be ok to use as a log or should I stand it up and try a log at a later time? It wont let me upload the pic. it appears in my grow log.thanks in advance. peace, e

    Yellowing is often caused by growth without light. The temps are warm enough for growth, but the light just isnt there, so instead of going dormant they stretch out to look for sunlight. Little chlorophyll is present in this type of growth so you get yellowing.

    ok so some light should correct the matter then. the cactus will photothensis and produce chlorophyl? peace, e

    no actually what you have described is known as sunburn, it does not green back up. Won't hurt the cactus, just discolored.
    yellowing from no light only shows on the growth tip not the body.

    sunburn is usally orange not yellow in my experience. The yellow is a bit prone to sunburn, but it will grow fine. It sometimes accompanies etiolation. Ask your friend if it was yellow before he sent it to you, and if not, it isnt sunburn. The yellowing occurs anywhere there is new growth, but yes its more common on the tip, but definitely not confined to it.

    actually, give out way too much sun to your old pedro, and it will turn yellow..

    seedlings get the orange tint though....
