this is my new salvia d. plant she has 8 leaves and 3 more tiny ones growing. i put it under a little rubbermaid tub for humidity and give it regular fresh air exchange, when it gets a little bigger i will transplant it into a soil mixture of moldy leaves, dry grass clippings, horse manure, and potting soil. i might use the tub still in the new pot until she gets too big for it. How does it look?

i give it about 3 hours of inderect light while the sun is going down so like at 7 or 8 ill put it in a kinda sunny/shady spot and leave it there until it's dark them i put it back under the humidity tent. but on days like this (humid and cloudy) i can leave it out longer

this place had an easy and fairly nice description of how to care for salvias.http://www.salvia-divinorum-scotland.co.uk/home.htm i recieved some cuttings too! right now i have them under a 26w cfl and take the cups off the top for periods every day, sometimes several when i think about it. they look healthy and as this guy advises i will transplant in a couple of weeks. good luck. |

awesome, i put it in a 4 inch pot. its a little bigger but i dont have any soil rite now so it will have to do for a little while. also i put some moldy leaves in it and mold grows on the top of the soil the salvia seems to like it because its leaves have gotten perkier since i did that. thats a very cool site 2guysupnorth, i got my info from here http://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodiu...ers.guide.html

i change lady bugs every oncce in a while i dont have them for about 3 days then i put new ones in, i only keep them for like 2 days cuz they get sad. i dont name them because they want to be free but i have a connection with each ladybug. there are new leaves and i want to show them to you guys but the person in charge of the camera is hoarding it! i cant get a hold of a camera, i have a couple of pictures of it after the transplant but it is wilted but havent saved them to the computer i guess you would like to see that thou.. how do you spell thowe<== pronunciation ive been wondering for a while. ill try to talk the keeper of the camera in to letting me use it once again. but peace i love you all... ive got a picture of the keeper's head,,, by the way salvia does teach you while you grow her... i am wondering what she will teach me when i get some harvesting from her. i have been getting dreams of what people will be when they are older and i have never had that kind of dream, also have been wiser than usual. i also love basically everything and have been trying to make peace with my neighbors who i had made fun of earlier on in my life.

hi joseph, "thowe" is spelled though. that is to bad about your hbwr plants, maybe next time. here are our salvias, transplanted 2 days ago in potting soil, compost and rotted leaves. they are doing pretty well. i should clean off the pots, lol the camera shows more than i could see. |

Hey the plant looks decent, but repotting it in a mix which includes moldy leaves and grass clipping is a bad idea. By doing that you are going to kill your plant. Since salvia likes to have fairly moist soil, intuducing moldy leaves and grass clippings to the soil you are going to have bacteria problems which will result in rootrot, killing the plant, and if you try to reuse the soil with out sterilizing it, it will cause problems if you use it for another plant. The manure is fine, but in lue of the leaves and grass, add some perlight or vermiculite, and some crushed eggshells(washed), from home or the farm/garden store. You will have a much healthier plant.

By doing that you are going to kill your plant i have to disagree with this. the info that i read said they really like this soil/leaf mold mixture. i used this soil and mine are doing very well. i dont keep these in a humidity tent or anything, just acclimated them to my enviroment. |

when i had my salvia growing i used potting compost and soil with expanding gel pieces for airation and moisture, they were placed around the edges of a grow room fed them once a week and they boomed,in fact got a bit to big for the space i had for them.

i was gone for awhile but im back, i didnt use the moldy leaf thing anyways, i just used a little bit of vermiculite with organic potting soil. i acclimated it to being just an outside potted plant also. it hasnt grown very much but it doeent look sickly or anything ill put up a picture of it tomorrow or the next day... i think that website knows what theyr talking about tho they say how good theyr plants do with that mixture. -do you think the reason it isnt growing very much is that i planted the roots soo close to the bottom of the pot and they need to grow down?
