RED DEVIL LYE no longer made, Mescal Extraction no good

Well, I have been having a hard time finding Red Devil Lye in Canada. Then I read that they dont make it anymore because if meth production.

Luckly their is hope, I just want to know what you guy think of the next generation of lye.

As long as its 100% NaOH your good to go. Might have to start ordering online, as its getting scarce if you dont know where to look.

Red Devil lye become unavailable a couple years ago, plenty of other 100% NaOH products still out there. you can order it online, it's not a watched chemical and is widely used by biofuel and soap makers. just don't order it in addition to other, more conspicuous purchases

I have used ROEBIC Heavy Duty Crystal Drain Opener with great soap making success!

ROEBIC Heavy Duty Crystal Drain Opener:

This is as close as I can get. I hope it is 100% pure. I would like to check if it is but I dont know how. Anyhow. hopefully it is pure lye cystals and I can be on my way with my 340g P. Tourch powder extraction.

All I need now is some PH strips, glassware, and acetone. Hell I might even get a sep-funnel.

I wouldn't use it unless it said 100% lye on the bottle.Better safe than sorry

I can't stress enough how much I love having the Sep Funnel. I can have a pull of xylene salted and dried in 3hr using a Funnel.
No freezing required and w/ the pH strips I have gotten Mesc that is too clean to bother using acetone to wash it. It can be dosed as is or needs a MEK re X to further clean.

What do you make of the Lye im going to use???

It seens 100% pure from what I read in the MSDS, but then again I never read a MSDS before.

Hmmm??? this is the last step before I start my extraction.

run a test extraction on a small amt to see how it performs

its not a known brand

to a certain extent you are a pioneer

a 3 kg can is nicely large

Damn, I sure wish I would have read this before I went to Lowes today. All I knew for sure is that I was looking for Roebic drain cleaner. Well, I got the only Roebic drain cleaner they had and it is the wrong shit. This stuff I got is called K-67. I did not read the label as I was in a hurry, and I ended up driving all the way home about 3 hrs before I realized what I had done. Oh well, live and learn I guess. The soap will have to wait.

Dang I got a 50lbs bag of 100% pure Sodium Hydroxide beads in my garage. I'm a contract cleaner I use it to clean oil stains on parking lots. Once I've made 30 quality posts here so that people can get a better feel for the type of person I am, I might be willing to part with some.
