Hey guys, a week ago i bougth some cuttings, they were freshly cut and have been sitting for a week now so only 2 more to go before i can plant. How ever i would just like to confirm there species and any other discussion is welcome. I bought 2 pachanoi + a little piece with pups, 2 peruvianus and 2 bridgesii + one monstrose of it. Read the picture labels to see what i was told they were, this is just for reassurance not that i doubt them at all. The reason i ask is the two peruvianus look so different. |

i think both are kk242 aka cuzcoensis, is that a B clone bridgesii in the first pic? if so, take good care of it

Yeah i see the pachanoi now, from that picture you can see how closely it is related to the bridgesii. KK242 is the collection number for the peruvian torch cactus aka trichocereus peruvianus. The K K stands for the man who discovered and collected the seeds, Karel Knize. The 242 is simply a number assigned to the seed. I am raising a few of the K K bridgesii specimen. The problem is, this seed was very very heavily distributed through the years as an active trichocereus peruvianus. The seed was somehow mislabeled by a very unorganized Knize, and sold as something it was not. There was never a formal retraction to my knowledge, but this cactus is a cuzcoensis. Cuzcoensis is a non active cactus, which has several trichocereus traits. Sadly they are still being sold today as the real deal. My advice over the years is to stay away from anything called peruvian torch, unless you know how to identify these cacti yourself , or you trust the person selling them. Question: in the first pic the small cactus far left. Is that a B clone bridgesii? B clone is a segmented bridgesii reported to be very high in alkaloids. It grows for a few inches then throws off a new pup, and this process is continued until you have a pot full of gnarly segmented potent cactus.

Oh ok, thanks for the heads up, i am disapointed now because i got 3ft of mid sectiosn to make tea, i guess ill drink it anyway tho just in case. Yes i got given the cutting as a gift it was cut of a little cactus made of many of these 2-3 inch segments. I hope it is what you said it is. She called it a bridgesii penis plant. |

Its the B clone bridgesii. All clones originate from the same plant. Grow it out for a couple of years.

Hey guys, i have been noticing a few cacti in my local area and decided to go get a cutting of a close by one. Its a very large, beautiful cactus. It will look so good with the others. Anyone have an insight to what it is? Last edited by Cooper Trouper; 03-03-09 at 06:53. Reason: Forgot Photo's |

Hey guys, Coca seeds havent poped up yet, got 9 quart rye jars with Puerto Rican colonizing contam free this time, got 10 white rhino clones on the go with 4 rooted already, also ordered 30 20cm bridgesii cuttings and some pachanoi cuttings and im starting a veggie patch. Best news of all it is spring in 2 weeks here in aus. So that means its time for a Poppy Update. I planted these at the beginning of winter because i had a feeling we wouldnt get a frost and i was right. so two weeks away from spring and i already have some nice poppys waiting for that spring sun. You can see how much they have grown since the last photos. So Its going to get exciting in here over the next few months. |
