![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Colombian Coca Plants From Seeds!!!
Hi. I must say first that this is the first time I have attempted growing plants. I remember trying to grow beans on cotton when I was in 3rd grade, but that didnt go well. I want to have a garden with sacred plants so I started with these. I hope to collect as many as I can without violating any laws in my country. I must say that it is legal to grow as many as 20 plants before it is considered a plantation. Which would then constitute a felony. The plant in question is E. Coca. I got the seeds from the Indians, just before i did an ayahuasca ritual with them. These people believe in the sacred nature of the coca plant and were very kind in providing me with them. Since coca is normally not grown at the altitude and climate of my city, I was completely lost as what to do with them to make them germinate. A friend of mine suggested Peatmoss and vermiculite, which i Mixed 50/50. They took 4 weeks to germinate. Heres a pic of the first contact: ![]() I water them every 2 days with a handsprayer with tap water. I have read that there is no need to fertilize them until theyre a few months old. At first they were fast to open their first pair of leaves, they have slowed down quite a bit. ![]() A few days Later I got more good news: ![]() Theyre growing beautiful leaves. You can already notice the caracteristic shape of the leaves: ![]() So finally I got 4 plants. Here they are after 10 days: ![]() This Plant developed this on the leaves. I have no idea what it is, but I freaked out and thought it was dying on me. It soon started developing more leaves. ![]() Here you can see how tall they are at 15 days. ![]() I have observed that the leaves dont come out in pairs like i had seen before, but alternated. One by one. Here they are at 22 days ![]() Its been 20 days since the last pic, so I will take a few tomorrow and post them here. They havnt grown as much as I thought they would. They seem to be ok though. En JoY!! |

Beautiful plants! I would love to have some as collecter's plants. Have seen a guy selling the fresh seeds but it seems a few orders have been confiscated at customs.

Word to the wise. Don't let any outside plants near those. They are very susceptible to disease and the like that your outdoor plants may be carrying. And by very I mean VERY. Keep them isolated at all costs. They are beautiful though. Congrats to you!

These are coca plants from real coca field seeds grown in Putumayo, Colombia. They were given to me by an Indian friend of mine. Since they were so slow to grow I decided to give them some fertilizer a couple weeks ago and wow! They are now growing very fast, you can see from the picture the new leaves. This is such a beautiful plant. Im misting with very dilute(1/10) fertilizer once every 2 days. |

Really nice plants! However, it is Erythroxylum novogranatense and not Erythroxylum coca. Check the leafs to identify. The stripe in the middle of the leaf (don´t know the name for it in english) should have one parallell stripe on each side. Best luck with these incredible plants! |

I've been growing e novo for several years. It's kind of a fussy plant but not as hard to grow as salvia. Take it in during the winter or cold months and it'll be happy by a window or under some floros. Here are some pics. One is a fairly large bush and the other pic is some seedlings. The berries themselves are red and about 1/3" long.

Here is one of my novo bushes. It isn't the biggest one but gives you some idea of how they get. I have other photos too. This is kind of a test of the photo uploading. Tell me what you want to see, i have pics of flowers, seedlings and so on. I can take a pic of the plant with ripe berries, green ones and flowers all at the same time.
