kratom extractions, anybody have success yet?

i've read some posts discussing kratom extracts. i've never tried kratom but have read that it tastes nasty if you choose to do the tea and i know my wife would not want to eat eight '00' caps or drink nasty tea. so my mission is to find an extract that is efficient enough to get one sufficient dose in one '00' cap. from my readings it sounds like i'm going to want to shoot for an alcohol extract. i was curious if anyone here's had luck with extracts?

i was going to try a crude iso extract, since i have no experience working with kratom i wanted to see if any of the experts think this may be worth trying. should one use anhydrous or 91% iso? does it matter, are kratom alkaloids soluble enough in water to where i can get by with 91%? i'm using iso because ethanol's too expensive and i hear iso works just as well.

charge a RBF with 4g powdered kratom and 91% isopropyl alcohol, turn on magnetic stirring and heat in a warm water bath for a couple hours or so. allow it to cool to room temp, vac filter the iso from the remaining undissolved powder. toss the filter cake then evap the iso and see what kind of material i have, whether it's <500mg to fit in one '00' cap. dissolve the product in water, evap the water, make sure all hints of iso are gone, cap and consume.

I believe Vodka works best for kratom. 80 proof or more.
The method below is not my own, nor has it been tested by me.
It has been posted from another forum.

FOR 400g Leaf:
Mix 100g Kratom powder in ~880ml of vodka.

Mix the remaining 300g kratom powder with 3.75 Liters water, reduce to half, stiring frequently.
Strain and store the water through a coffee filter.
Re mix the 300g kratom material with 1.25L lime juice, and 2.5L water.
Reduce to half, and strain again, into the same container, once again, saving the plant matter.

Strain the 100g powder from the vodka, and add it to the 300g.
Add 500ml water, and 880ml vodka to the 400g of plant matter.
Let it all soak for about an hour.
Reduce to half, at ~180F.
Strain all liquid into same container as before, once again, saving plant matter.

Add 2tblsp water to the plant matter, and freeze.

Thaw the plant matter in 1.25 liters lime juice, 3.75 liters hot water.
Reduce to half, strain remaining liquid into same container as before.
It is fine to discard the plant matter at this point.

Reduce collected liquids at ~180F, once alcohol has been evaped, (the speed of reduction slows) reduce further in a soft boil.
Stirring frequently, reduce to the 400ml - 40ml range. (Preference)
Stir constantly, and lower heat as tincture thickens.

Store in a tincture bottle of your choice. For short term storage, use 3:1 extract:vodka.
For long term storage, use a 2:1 ratio.

Kratom tincture should be stored in the fridge, and shaken before each use. One "eye dropper" full is considered a low-medium dose.

I've been looking for an extraction tek for kratom since i began using it. It seems everyone who does know is very secretive. I tried an extract with iso on a water/tar extract in attempt to further purify the tar but when I did the tar never fully dissolved. That was a while ago. Its still sitting there bottled up. Sorry I'm not of much help. Please do inform us if ya do find a good extraction method though.

i do know of a good extraction method, of course i've never tried it but he has always been spot-on with extraction advice in the past. the problem is that i can't follow it because i don't have a working ph meter at the moment, nor is my fumehood finished which it needs to be before i begin evaporating things like naptha over heat. so i'm stuck doing more crude extracts at the moment. but here it is:

This leaves a orange "gum" which is very active @~ 100mg. It also gives a clearer effect than the tea.

PS I have taken mytrangyna to it's off white TA's and found the gum stage is far enough, more purification loses more product than its worth.

I wonder if Naoh can be substituted for Koh. I've read of people trying a simple A/B on kratom with no success. May I ask where you found that? Very informative. It would be worth trying a small batch even if it doesn't end up being active. Thanks for that.

A simple acidic water extraction can be filtered/reduced to fit in a capsule ..It provides a full spectrum goo that can be rolled in powdered sugar and swallowed with out a cap..

Main drawback is that quite a bit of heat and time is needed to boil down to that point..

I create a good tasting tea with a lot less energy, that is equal to any extract in strength.
One cup has about a 14g equivelent..There is a 10-20% loss with any extraction though..

Another way to consume and retain all the potency, is to bring honey to a boil and stir in 10g fine powder for every 25g honey.
Spread the mix out on a plate to chill in the fridge...
Once cool ,u can roll the goo into balls ,from marble to golfball size which has about a 10g dose equiv..
Eat with a glass of milk for a chaser...

here's what i did:


1. charge a RBF with 4g powdered Kratom and 50ml 91% isopropyl alcohol
2. turn magnetic stirring to low and heat a warm water bath to 120F for an hour or so
3. turn off heat and allow it to cool to room temp
4. vacuum filter the isopropryl alcohol from the powder
5. toss the filter cake. note: for larger scale extractions you will want to follow the standard of 3 extractions, so grab the filter cake and perform 2 more extractions on it (follow steps 1-4 again), after the 3rd extraction you may toss the filter cake and proceed to the next step
6. pour the dark green (almost black) filtrate into a pyrex pan and evap the isopropyl alcohol under fan
7. there was dark green oily remnants on the pyrex pan, keep it under the fan until completely dry (gummy). after it is completely dry then scrape it up and pour hot water into the pan
8. evaporate the water under fan (to help remove residual iso)

came out to 500mg once it was scraped up. pretty light buzz (not unlike a light opiate buzz) and a slight upset stomach has been present, i'm pretty sure it's due to one of two things 1) i shouldn't have taken it on an empty stomach or 2) my stomach isn't digging the fact that the powder was a dried tar, perhaps a little of both. i have a pretty decent tolerance for opiates which i've read kratom shares a cross-tolerance with so either the extract sucks or my tolerance is coming into play or just didn't take enough. either way i won't repeat this type of extract again. probably will try a white vinegar extract, golly's method, and/or wait until i get a ph meter and try whiterasta's method above.

On wikipedia it states that the best method for extraction of kratom is by leaching. It almost sounds like a form of chroma. We know the actives are soluble in ethanol, acetic acid and chloroform but what are the actives insoluble in and that will remove clorophyl and other impurities. If we can figure that out we should be able to purify the alkaloids to a very powerful strength.

i ate dinner after posting the last reply and the stomach ache subsided, i think it's because the material was a tar which was dried into a powder, but upon consumption it was rehydrated back to a tar proving it difficult to digest (my stomach doesn't fair well to things of that nature) without some other food along with it at least.

the way to go is going to be tea or an a/b, a salted form would be much easier to digest than a dehydrated tar which is what alcohol extracts tend to produce a lot of the time.

If you make the tea, reduce to about 10g to 6oz liquid after filtering then add 2oz of frozen apple juice and mebbe a little brown sugar if u prefer sweeter..
Serve cold - tastes pretty good..
