can't find lye anywhere?

lowes/the depo don't carry it...
am I missing something?

Rather than looking at places like Lowes, where every teenager knows the place exists, try looking up shops that are geared more to the professional plumber type... still, takes a 4 hr drive for anyone in my area to get to one of those stores... and that was 3 yrs ago!

Here's what i use for Lye... Its 100% pure lye crystals and comes from Ace Hardware... brand name "Rooto"... 1 lb for $5.

try not to give out direct sources for lye. a lot of us feel thats y its so hard to find! people may read these posts who are out to stop this kind of activity and crack down on those places.

Lye is everywhere... it will never be a watched chemical if bought in small batches, so LEO can't crack down on it, unless of course, your stupid enough to buy all your precurser chems in one place.

Buying lye is no problem... I mean, I can't help it if my drains clog like a mofo!!!

thanks for the advice guys. i was all over creation trying to find some lye, and i did finally find it at A** hardware. i agree to the posts above to not mention it so clearly. Lowes near me stopped carrying it within the last year.

I feel your pain. Try looking for soap making sites. Not only will you get great ideas for different types of soap, they will also have lists of suppliers. Shoot me a pm if you don't have any luck.
