SWIM's Big Cactus Disaster and Redemption

Some of you may remember my posting of the thread discussing SWIM's BFC (big freakin' cactus) in this forum several weeks ago. It was in full bloom and had many fruits beginning to develop. Alas, during over a week of heavy rains in this area, the majestic Cereus Repandus was toppled due to mushy soil. After analyzing the situation a bit, SWIM decided to cut the cactus up and preserve only the best tips for re-planting at a later date. The last photos are the final arrangement, with a few specimens of rooted T. Bridgesii and a cutting of T. Peruvianus purchased from BBB to round it out. Very nice. They are kept under an awning to prevent frequent rains from overwatering. This way they get excellent morning sun and SWIM can control the moisture. Temps are in the 80s daily, but summer hasn't really gone into full swing, so they can harden a bit before the real heat sets in. Notice the bridgesii pup growing on one of the planted cacti in the foreground, second to last pic. Hopefully it'll grow into a viable cactus down the road. So much that I could comment on these pics, but I'll leave it at that.

Nice job. I like the Bridgesii.

They have a special glow to them. I notice it more in my seedlings

Thank you, yes, I notice a sort of personality in all my plants (I do a lot of bonsai also). I've just recently gotten interested in Cacti, and I have to say it's pretty fascinating. The bridgesii are getting special attention, though. Trying to get to know their spirit along with the the pachanoi.

I tried bonsai when i was a kid, but it never worked out well. it's something i would like to get back into now that i have developed my green thumb.
