![]() ![]() | green moss invading my grow room
I have some green moss/mold making its home in my growing situation. I have some trays of various marijuana and tomato clones under a light in my closet. the rock wool cubes i'm using for rooting started to get a green moss on the top. Now i noticed some in my container i have my loph seedlings in. Some of the sand on the edge is just barely tinged green. It's not fluffy, or too crazy, just seems to be a slight green tint. What is this and what should i do? I have some daconil, Would that be okay on my Lophs? maybe water it down a bit? they are 1 - 2 months old. |

Sounds like green algae. Try to block light from getting onto your rockwool, this should minimise it and slow it down. I have had green algae growing in my cacti seedling containers before, it didn't seem to hurt them. If you are worried, a fungicide might be the way to go, I'm not familar with daconil though.

Don't worry about the algae. It doesn't seem to hurt anything as far as I can tell. I've had some two year old slow growers that have been living with it for some time now. If you insist on getting rid of it, use Physan 20 to get rid of it temporarily. It will continue to return so keep the stuff handy. This product is a listed algeacide for use on food grade plants - I dunno about the daconil you mentioned. Be safe and don't let your tomatoes become toxic by using the wrong stuff. I included a photo of a safe fungicide used in grape grafting for wine production as well as a photo of algea and cacti living together. Hope this helps set your mind at ease.
