Do cacti like worms?

i ordered my first san pedro cutting todaY!

i've heard san pedro dont need water when rooting, right?
is that with hydrated soil or with dry soil?
i've been wondering if red worms with a lil bit of sawdust would be beneficial?

i was thinking of making soil of 1/3 1/4" pebbles, 1/3 native soil, 1/3 coir and a pinch of sawdust and worms.

would this work or should i stick to the bagged stuff?

don't put worms in the cactus soil. you should let your cactus soil dry out between waterings, which will stress and kill the worms. worms like a constant moist environment where they can eat stuff that is breaking down. don't want your cactus to rot!

its warm soil temperature not water content that roots the cactus. I agree completely with greenmeanie about the worms, not a good idea for the worms or the cactus.

Maybe he means 'worm castings'? Never heard of growing a plant in worms before...

worms and sawdust, hmm you know that's almost what you'd need to make worm castings, but you'd want to add in some green materials too, and moisten the sawdust... its best to make the compost/castings BEFORE you put it in the pot with the plant, then again I might have misunderstood what the original intent here is...

yeah, worm poo would be a great thing to add to cactus soil AFTER the plant is established. i wouldn't add castings to a rooting cactus though, because it's full of microorganisms that might take advantage of a weak plant.
