dry stb idea

dude has been tossing this idea around ever since he read the cocaine percolation tek: would a similar thing work for mhrb? using lye and naptha

basically:
moisten mhrb with strong basic soln, make a paste
dry the paste
crumble paste, load in jar/bucket/funnel
extract dried paste with warm naptha a few times (washes, or percolation)

ive seen a thread here where something like this worked, but they used d-limonene and sodium carb
it would be damn nice if it worked for lye+naphtha

any thoughts or pointers?

It works great using CaOH2 and acetone - the extract is a little grungy since acetone pulls just about everything, but it's strong as hell and could probably be refined with heptane or naptha. I posted something about it awhile back, but I'm too lazy to hunt it down.

dude came by with the first pull off a lb, -> orange, dry waxy, non-sticky, non-crystalline
its unusual; feels like it has a maoi in it; its psychoactive in a dmt-like way but its not all dmt, theres definitely something extra in it; medicinal

how he did the test:
blend/shred bark enough to fit in quart jar (dude did not powder to avoid mud)
add very basic lye soln, just enough to moisten everything well (dude used too much soln, and had to pour the black liquid into another container for separate extraction)
add naphtha to jar (he did not wait for the bark to dry completely, just no free liquid)
heat bath for 30 min
pour naphtha off
plain water wash (nps drying here? keep it all dry)
evap

Sounds similar to what my friend got - in effect and appearance.
He mixed equal weights powdered bark and CaOH2, made a paste with water, let it dry, and extracted that with acetone.

Very interesting bbd2! I've never thought about a dry tek. I wonder what else was pulled in the orange goo. I had some orang goo left over from an extraction. Very dark orange, malleable, and very active. Def more than just DMT.

Can you give a mini-trip-report? Every time I smoke the goo, I get extreme body-load, an adrenaline/electrical feel, and instead of a chrysantheum I see abstract pictures, like still photos and symbols.

swims tried something similar with a few bases and solvents.
for spice - naptha is only good for freeze precip - its a very pathetic solvent.
on 69Rons drytek he used calcium hydroxide as he said it breaks down any mucous - lye may produce ph spikes that damage the dmt.

id love to see this attempted and photos of all that goes on.

ability to freeze precip is an important advantage
otherwise you have to do a FASA var
and it also evaps faster than other solvents
its not a very strong extraction solvent though

i question the non-speculative nature of the idea that lye spikes destroy dmt
its pretty much the same amt of lye as in a typical stb
is there evidence, such as increased yields while using calcium hydroxide?
and could you say more about the mucous? seen it in cactus but not in bark

it comes on slow, 2-4 minutes after taking the hits
it ramps up slower, the more you hit the higher u go
very comprehensive/multi-channel high
very introspective, more body than visual

strait dmt has faster visual distortions and is more rushed, with more extreme alieness compared to this

he only brought a little bit coz hes trying to see how this process yields
and what happens after heptane re-x

dude sent me this report:

heptane re-x yielded dry yellow powder, like cornmeal
a small amt of deep orange-red fraction separated out
it takes a while for the mhrb/lye mix to dry and it turns gummy/gluey (maybe thats the snot mentioned above?)
not sure this saving time over regular a/b
