Question Best way to make DMT white???

Hey guys,

I've read conflicting reviews on how to make tan/yellow DMT completely white. Which one works best?

1.) Sodium carbonate wash
2.) Ammonia hydroxide wash

Also, can anyone tell me what "recrystallization is?" Is it better of a method than the above two washes?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I find that activated charcoal works wonders.
Just make sure you have some good filter papers.
Drying your solvent with Sodium sulfate or Mag sulfate helps to.
This was done with the above step and no re xtal.

from a simple A/B work up.

Thanks! How do I use the activated carbon? Do i it dissolve in water and then pour over the dmt in a funnel and filter? Can I then pour a sodium sulfate solution?

No. Dissolve your spice back into hot solvent (naptha)
add small amount of activated charcoal. swirl and wait for a couple seconds to a minute.
solvent should go clear except for the gray cloudyness from the charcoal.
Filter this hot through a buchner funnel with good filter papers.
then do a slow freeze precip

NO. Use sodium sulfate anhydrous to add to your spiced solvent.
It takes out any left over water left in your solvent. I find that it also picks up any polar junk stuck to the water.
This is usually done before a charcoal clarification step.

the best way is freeze precipitation from heptane

dissolve spice in heptane 25ml/g
let sit in warm heat bath for at least 1 hr
place in freezer
collect white precipitate
repeat as necessary
leave the last one in freezer for 72 hrs+

Heptane Rocks for ReX'ing Spice.
That and slow, slow cooling to eventual freezing seems to do wonders as well. Seems that really clean clear/white DMT takes patience.
Well worth it though!

How much naphtha should I be using to dissolve the spice? 25 ml per gram?

Do I add sodium sulfate before dissolving the spice in naptha? Thanks, and sorry of the questions are silly.

Yea that is good, but you can always use more then reduce the volume later before you do the freeze precip.
Use roughly a table spoon of charcoal per gram of spice and wash the charcoal with fresh hot solvent to remove any spice caught in it.

Add drying agent after spice is in solvent. This step is used to get rid of any water and water based sludge that came over into the solvent.
