Here are som pics of my live T. peruvianus (San Pedro) and T. pachanoi (Peruvian Torch). All the San Pedro Came from one single Section that was 24 inches long and rooted before i bought it. I bought the original in the summer of 2003. And i just added the T. Puruvianus in 2006. I will start the pics off with the San pedro, then show you the Torches, And lastly show some graphting that i have done. Here are all my cacti, various rootings, cuttings, Pups(new/small branches). Some of the rootings are actually logs on there side. One is the same as it was when i put it on its side, and one(that had a growth tip) grew at a 90 degree turn to acomidate the change in plant orientation. And after growing a nice set of roots, and 6 more inches at the tip, it started to put out other pups along the horizontal portion of the cacti. This is the first time that i have attempted to upload any pics to this site, so i appologize in advance if i screw it up. |

great looking cacti my friend but, there is some bad news there, some of those cacti are not what you beleive them to be, can you guess which ones I am talking about and can you figured out what they really are? I will give you a hint, yellow spines staring out ontop cascading down to whiteish grey spines ='s What cactus?

I see what you mean. looks like it could be a Cuzcoensis. But the base is putting out brown mature spines. i wonder if its a color change due to UV or sun exposure. the base that looks normal os in the shade, whereas the whiteish spined growth tip is in direct sun. There is a small possability that its Echinopsis lageniformis, if he got the seeds mixed up. But he sais that if i ordered the peruvianus seeds, thats what i got. And they are suposed to be seeds collected from home grown wild specimen from peruvian andies. I have had a very open and longstanding relationship with this vender. I realy dont think he would knowingly give me the wrong cacti. But it coulds be a hybrid since he has sooo many species in his greenhouse. Do you see any difference between the long spined cacti in the pics? Man you've got me thinking, and running all over the net. Your not trying to say they are T. cuzcoensis are you? Cuz the tallest one that is long spined is only 3 yrs old. 90% of the growth was from this seasons growth. And the spines are only whiteish due to over exposure to sun. Same as some of the Pachanoi that is yellowing that wasnt over watered. The tall skinny pedro that looks sickly was over watered and probably developed an internal fungus, causing the stunted growth. Anyway. what do you think it is. i will post more pics of the spines of all the supposed different cacti species that i have. along with some close ups of the Ariocarpus fissuratus, and Ariocarpus retusus minor specimens that i have. One of witch has been in the family for over 40 yrs. Man you really got me thinking, so i am going to send some current pics to the guy that sold them to me and see what he classifies them as, without telling him that i got them from him. Im an idiot, i thought you were trying to say they were an unactive species. I forgot to list Bridgesii above. Here is some more info from the suppliers site. This is his Veriety of peruvian cacti. they are labled 1-7 as follows Names 1) Bridgesii 2) Peruvian Torch 3) Cuzcoensis Torch? 4) Fatty? 5) Rimac 6) Classic Peruvianus 7) Glaucus He goes on to say that color variations are common for 1 and 2, but are usually due to growing conditions. So judging by his photos and interpritation i would have to say its Bridgesii or true torch. Last edited by Beastmaster; 09-04-09 at 22:25. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ariocarpus Spp. pics
Here are some pics of my favorite Genus the Ariocarpus Spp., the commonly named "Living Rock" or "False Peyote". Attached are some pics of my home grown(some from seed!!!). these specimen were bought as farm grown and not supposed to be wild harvested. That is how they were sold anyway, cant ever be sure. And i would like to take a min to shun anyone who would go out into the last vestegas of these wild and endangered/protected speicies to rob them from the earth that is the last natural place on our earth to have a wild population. But i do encourage people to buy seeds, or cacti grown from seed in a greenhouse, to help preserve this rare cacti in the wild. this is not my pic, but its in the fam!!!! and to give you an idea of growth rate. they only grow 3-6 new tubercles every year. and depending on speicies, the tubercles are only slightly visible(if not covered by velvety hairs or seed caseings. they start to develope as small lumps under the "hair" in the center of the cact. this "hair" protects ne buds as the form so the flowers can be protected untill the are ready to open(for 1 day-2 weeks, rarely more than 5 days.) ![]() So my pics are below. my fav species is probly a close tie between Ariocarpus trigonus and Pelecyphora aselliformis |

First off bridgesii has 4 inch spines and only 3 to 5 spines per areole, so they differntly don't have 4 inch spines, also "TRUE Torch" has amber spines redding at the base of the areole cascading down to the base with a dark amber brown with age and fading to a light brown as the cactus gets older. The tale tale sign of trichocereus Cuzcoensis is the yellow spines on top cascading downward becoming a geryish white, and eventually white as the cactus ages. Here is a Pic of "True peruvian torch" or Trichocereus Peruvianus ![]() This is a KK242 or Trichocereus Cuzcoensis ![]() and this is the Achuma Cactus Or Trichocereus Bridgesii ![]() So what you have is Most diffently Trichocereus Cuzcoensis

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Also you have your cactus mislabeled in the above statement, T.pachanoi is pedro and torch is T.peruvianus
