Need Cactus Advice

With winter weather fast approaching I am wondering how to care for the large collection of cacti and succulents that I have amassed over the summer? I know that cacti don't need to much indoors, but what about succulents? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I keep my cactus in the same windowsill they grow in at summer and I do not water them at all over winter. They will go into hibernation mode if you do not water and keep the temperature down. If the temperture stays warm over winter but the days are short, your cactus may become etiolated.

It really depends on your climate.

If they are in pots and your winters aren't too extreme, you could leave the cacti somewhere outside that rain won't reach them (under a porch, in a shed etc.) and definately stop watering.

Succulents on the other hand are generally alot hardier during winter. I leave mine in the same place all year round. I don't water my succulents during winer, but they take any rainfall ok. With the exception of frost tender species like euphorbia's etc. which get relocated inside.

As mentioned, your climate will determine what to do, the colder it gets the more protection and less water they will need.
