green xylene?

A FOAF started an extraction a while ago and had to hold off for a couple weeks due to other priorities. He returned to the carboy which had 44 fresh oz of xylene added to it 2 weeks prior. Upon separating from the sludge and storing in a container next to the previous xylene pull, he noticed that the first pull was neon yellow in color and this pull was a dark green color. Is this due to sitting too long? Can he still salt it normally and yield normal results or will he have to deal with it differently? Ant most importantly, is the extraction botched???

I have never ran into this before as I have never waited, but I can't see why you wouldn't be able to salt, although I do know the mesc breaks down easier when it's in it's freebase form.

Imo you should just salt it seperately instead of adding your pulls together then salting to be certain and not ruin the others. I still think you should be fine but, always better to be safe then sorry

true. thanks DT. FOAF just did pull 3 and the color was goldenrod (mix of neon and green).

And to add, on the fourth extraction only 15 minutes passed before siphoning. the xylene, according to my FOAF, was a pale yellow. He got confused, and maybe a bit scared, and so he returned it to the jar for more alone time with the sludge. ::crossesfingers::

The solvent usually changes color, so it's not a big deal. Just continue on with the salting..
