cactus I.D. if you please.

for a few months now ive been eyeing three bunches of cacti while doing my daily errands on bicycle. yesterday i saw a fellow working in the yard and asked if he minded me taking a cutting. to which he responded take as much as you want! i told him i would go get my truck. from the street i was positive they were san pedro's, but when i got closer all bets were off. i shopped the I.D. around chat and got a few different answers. so if you care to guess im all ears.

definately a trichocereus score. very nice man. im sure there is tons of goodies in there. couldn't be 100% on which variety. definitely torch or pedro. i hear torches are bluer, and those are definately bluer than my pedros.

If those are trichocereus peruvianus, then that one 4th from the right in the 1st pic is really going to be an interesting friend to have.

ok so 100% we have a trichocereus, maybe a pedro, maybe a peruvianus. it is possible that it is some sort of hybred of the two no?

the pictures dont really do the color of these cacti justice. they are by far the bluest i have found in my area. also if it helps I.D. the spine apear to start off life kinda redish and fade to a tan with time.

I'm very tempted to say it's 100% T. Pachanoi, but the spines are longer than you'd usually find. Bridgessi perhaps, but it's definitely Trichocereus/Echinopsis.

Great score!

Stonehenge LEVEL +50 - WELL-LIKED
The proof is in the pudding and they look psychoactive to me. What you want to avoid are the ones with narrow ribs and a skinny center which is not what you have there. There are so many varieties it's impossible to say plus the fact the color varies with ferts, soil, sun, variety and so on. I think you will like it. Be sure to plant some so that you have your own big plant some day. Get it started in the shade or indoors by a window. I have a couple cuttings now i'm working on.

what you have there is Trichocereus peruvianus or Echinopsis peruviana

Trichocereus peruvianus - bluish-green in colour, with frosted stems, and 6-8 broadly rounded ribs; it has large, white flowers. It can grow up to 7 meters tall, with stems up to 20 cm in diameter; it is fully erect to begin with, but later possibly arching over, or even becoming prostrate. Groups of 6-8 honey-coloured to brown rigid spines, up to 4 cm in length, with most about 1 cm, are located at the nodes, which are evenly spaced along the ribs, up to approximately 2.5 cm apart.
