![]() ![]() | DMT Extract in Progress
I just started.... i added the naptha and it seperated out... but in the tek im looking at, this persons naptha turned yellow... mine hasnt... i know with my mesc extract the xylene def changed color... should my naptha be changing a yellow color like my teks pictures show. I uploaded a picture of what it currently looks like... lye solution + mhrb on bottom,,, and naptha on the top... It had ALREADY seperated... took only 10-20 minutes to fully seperate, but like i said the color hasnt changed, should i be worried? |

i've done it before, where it didn't turn all that yellow, is yours naptha completely clear? did you give some time for the lye to break down the bark? or did you emediately do a naptha pull? I like to let my bark soak 24 hours before starting to do my naptha pulls. Did you use a ph meter when basifying? it's harder to do by eye when doing a stb as you can't see the color change. |

its completely clear,,, i let it sit about an hour, the tek i was reading didnt say anything about letting it break down for a while, it did seem to use a lot of lye though, i put 1/2 lb in each container... Ive shaken it several times since this post, still clear. and seperates quicker than i thought, about 10 min flat. no ph meter |

ah well, for a stb method you want to use about a gram of lye for every gram of bark, I reccomend letting it break down for a while (one time i did it letting soak for about 10 hours another time 24 before doing naptha pulls and I had a difference in yield) If it were me I would seperate make sure it's basified enough (cant hurt going over, but wont get anywhere if under) let soak, ahaking periodicly and say tomarro do the naptha pulls. but hey maybe someone els has done it without waiting, I haven't so I cant be certain. |

You don't really want the naphtha to be yellow. Yellow naphtha means yellow spice. I would mix it for another 5-10 min then let separate. If it separates, it's basic enough. You should get some good clean spice from it

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree. You want the Naptha to come into contact w/ the aqueous layer but heavy agitation only incurs emulsions to form. A good gentle rolling and swirling will accomplish a lot more than a vigorous shaking.
